PEORIA, Ill. ? Bradley assistant women's basketball coach Ty Margenthaler has resigned and accepted a similar position at the University of Wisconsin. Margenthaler, who worked primarily with the Braves post players, spent six seasons on The Hilltop.

A 1997 graduate of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Margenthaler assisted with Bradley's recruiting efforts and also served as camp coordinator in addition to his scouting duties. He helped recruit and develop a pair of centers that went on to earn MVC All-Freshman team honors in Dena Williams (2002) and Ashley Chelleen (2003). Bradley's all-time leading shot blocker and rebounder, Williams earned first-team All-Valley honors as a senior after leading the squad in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots.

"I would like to thank Ty for his hard work and decication over the last six years," seventh-year head coach Paula Buscher said.  "This is a great opportunity for both him and his family and I wish them all the best of luck."

Margenthaler's collegiate playing experience included two years at
Indian Hills Community College (1992-94) before joining his father, Jack Margenthaler, at SIU-Edwardsville for his final two collegiate seasons.  He averaged better than 10 points per game and started every contest in his two seasons at SIU-Edwardsville.

"I would like to thank Coach (Paula) Buscher and the athletic department administration for a great opportunity to work with them the last six years," Margenthaler said. "It was a great experience and I wish everyone at Bradley the best of luck in the future and continued success."

A native of Macomb, Ill., where he earned all-state basketball honors as a senior, Margenthaler came to Bradley after two years as an assistant at his alma mater, where he helped lead the Cougars to a 19-9 record and the NCAA Division II Tournament in 1998-99. He served as a high school coach at Roxana (Ill.) High School, earning Alton Telegraph Coach-of-the-Year honors after leading the team to the South Central Conference title and regional championship.

Margenthaler and his wife Julie have two children, Brice (6) and Nate (2).
