PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior men's golfer Ryan Saurs (Pekin, Ill./Pekin/Illinois Central) has been named the Golfer of the Week by Peoria Journal Star after helping Team Tazewell to the title at last weekend's River Cup which was held at the Pekin Country Club.

Saurs joined with former Pekin High School teammate Justin McKinley during Saturday's best-ball matches to post a victory and followed it up with singles match win during Sunday's action. Saurs and McKinley trailed by two after seven holes, before Saurs carded birdies on holes eight, nine and 10. An eagle on No. 11 was followed by three consecutive birdies on 12, 13 and 14 as Saurs needed just 21 strokes during the seven hole run.

In singles play on Sunday, Saurs posted a 5-and-4 victory over Tyler Fitch to improve his River Cup record to 4-2 in his three appearances.
