PEORIA, Ill. -- Chasity Cotton (Little Rock, Ark./J.A. Fair Magnet/Arkansas-Ft. Smith) became the first Arkansas native to sign with the Bradley Women's Basketball team, signing a National Letter of Intent and will join the Braves this fall. A 6-3 center, Cotton will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Cotton averaged six points, six rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals per game as a sophomore, helping the Lions 26-9 overall record and seventh-place finish in the NJCAA Division I Tournament.
"Chasity is a long, athletic player who runs the floor extremely well," seventh-year head coach Paula Buscher said. "She comes from a very good basketball program with great coaching. She has continued to improve her game and I look forward to her being a major contributor over the next few years."
Cotton is the sixth player and fourth junior college player to sign with the Braves for the 2006-07 season. She will join 5-10 guard Renee Frericks (Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake H.S.), 6-1 wing player Jenny Van Kirk (Waconia, Minn./Waconia H.S.) and transfers Andrea Barber (Topeka, Kan./Topeka H.S./Barton County Community College); a 5-6 point guard, 5-9 point guard Rachel Merriman (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame/Illinois Central College) and 5-11 forward Jasmin Wright (Beale Air Force Base, Calif./Wheatland H.S./Yuba College) as newcomers on the team next season.
