MACOMB, Ill. -- Sophomore Bari-Lynn Erais sits atop the individual leaderboard and the Bradley women's golf team is also in first place after one round of play at the season-opening Western Illinois Invitational at the par 72 Harry Mussatto Golf Course in Macomb, Ill.
Erais holds a three-shot lead on Becky Allen of Western Illinois, carding a 73 during Sunday's action. She was one of four Braves to shoot in the 70's during the opening day of play, helping Bradley to a 12 shot lead on second-place Northern Illinois.
Senior Charlotte McGinnis is in a four-way tie for third place, four shots behind Erais at 77. Junior Whitney Cox fired a 78 to finish the day in a two-way tie for seventh place at 78, while fellow junior Rikki Sobel rounded out the team scoring for the Braves with an opening round 79 to finish the day in a two-way tie for ninth place.
The Braves shot 307 as a team and hold a 12-shot lead on second-place Northern Illinois (319) heading into Monday's final round. IUPUI is four shots behind NIU in third place at 323. Loyola (4th - 328), Western Illinois (5th - 329) and IPFW (6th - 330) follow close behind. Evansville is seventh in the standings at 340 with Lewis (8th - 356), Quincy (9th - 374) and Chicago State (10th - 390) rounding out the field, respectively.
Bradley will close out plat the Western Illinois Invitational Monday with one round of play beginning at 8:30 a.m.
