HAVANA, Cuba -- A trio of former Bradley Soccer players put their skills to the international test this week during the 2007 Digicel Caribbean Cup, which served as qualifying for he 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup, at Pedro Marrero Stadium.

Gavin Glinton (Brentwood, Calif./Livermore H.S.), the only four-time All-American in Bradley Athletics and Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer history, scored the game-winning goal in the 14th minute for Turks & Caicos Tuesday, helping the tiny Caribbean Island nation to its first ever international soccer victory, a 2-0 win against the Cayman Islands.  Glinton (left), who is taking a break from his play for the Charleston Battery in the USL First Division, was joined on the Turks & Caicos side by his brother and former Bradley teammate Duane Glinton (Brentwood, Calif./Livermore H.S.).

Turks & Caicos failed to advance to the second round of the Digicel Caribbean Cup, however, as the Bahamas joined Group E winner Cuba in the second round with a 3-2 win Wednesday.  Led by another former Brave, defender Deron Swaby (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill H.S.), the Bahamas advanced despite two more goals from Gavin Glinton, who scored the game's first goal in the 51st minute and a tying strike in the 72nd minute.  Swaby (right), who played at Bradley from 2002-05, played the entire 90 minutes in Wednesday's win.

The second round of the Digicel Caribbean Cup will be played during October and November at venues to be announced.  The final round will be played in Trinidad & Tobago Jan. 31-Feb. 7.

Gavin Glinton starred at Bradley from 1998 through 2001 and ended his career as the all-time leading scorer in both Bradley and Missouri Valley Conference history.  Today his 53 goals and 133 points rank second in Valley history.  He is one of seven former Braves listed on the ballot for the Valley's all-time team in men's soccer, which is currently available on the league's official website at www.mvc-sports.com.
