Ames, Iowa. ? Bradley senior Jennifer Jenkins (Calumet City, Ill. /Thornwood H.S.) led the Bradley women's track and field team as the Braves opened the weekend at the Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa.
Jenkins put in an excellent performance in the women's weight throw, recording 56'8 1/2", which was good for third place finish. Senior Kim Martin (Bartonville, Ill. /Limestone H.S.) recorded a 47'1'' in the weight throw competition, which was good for 13th place.
Junior Ainslie Schultz (Forest City, Iowa /Forest City H.S.) finished strong in the women's 5000 meter run with a career best time of 19:07.79, which was good for a 15th place finish.
Senior Shannon Calvert (Pekin, Ill./ Pekin H.S.) and sophomore Amanda Harms (Wheaton, Ill./ Warrenville South H.S.) had strong performances in the women's 200 meter dash. Harms finished the 200 meter with a time of 29.83, while Calvert finished right behind her with a time of 29.93.
Bradley track and field continues tomorrow as the ISU Open resumes at 10:30 a.m.
