Track and Field Concludes Play at the Iowa State Open

Ames, Iowa. ? Bradley sophomore Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio /Avon Lake H.S.) led the Bradley women's track and field team as the Braves wrapped up the weekend at the Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa.

 

Nowak led the Braves in the women's one mile run, finishing in sixth place with a season-best time of 5:16.85. Freshman Shannon Seyller (Harvard, Ill./ Harvard H.S.) made her track debut with a 17th place finish with a time of 5:33.14.

 

Freshman Rachel Brubaker (Davis, Ill. /Durand H.S.) led the Braves in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:46.11, followed closely by senior Sarah Westrick (Livonia, Mich. /Winston Churchill H.S.) finishing with 10:46.14. Junior Shelby Lile (Jefferson City, Mo. /Jefferson City H.S.) finished with a time of 11:33.54 in her spring debut.

 

Senior Jennifer Jenkins (Calumet City, Ill. /Thornwood H.S.) put in an excellent performance in the women's weight throw, recording 56'8 1/2", which was good for third place finish. Senior Kim Martin (Bartonville, Ill. /Limestone H.S.) recorded a 47'1” in the weight throw competition and 37'1 3/4'' in the shot put competition, which were good for 13th and 25th place respectively.

 

Freshmen Anne Bucalo (Fox River Grove, Ill. / Cary-Grove H.S.) and Catherine Schamberger (Amboy, Ill. /Amboy H.S.) both added solid results in the shot put competition with 35' 11 1/2” and 37' 10 3/4”, respectively.

 

Junior Ainslie Schultz (Forest City, Iowa /Forest City H.S.) finished strong in the women's 5000 meter run with a career best time of 19:07.79, which was good for a 15th place finish.

 

Senior Trish Martens (Elgin, Ill./ Burlington Central H.S.) and sophomore Jessica Holloway (Paris, Ill./ Paris H.S.) had strong performances in the women's 60 meter dash, recording times of 8.95 and 9.04, respectively.

 

Senior Shannon Calvert (Pekin, Ill./ Pekin H.S.) and sophomore Amanda Harms (Wheaton, Ill./ Warrenville South H.S.) had strong performances in the women's 200 meter dash. Harms finished the 200 meter with a time of 29.83, while Calvert finished right behind her with a time of 29.93. Calvert and Harms joined senior Maya Monitto-Webber (Iowa City, Iowa/ Iowa City H.S.) as they added solid times in the 60 meter hurdles. Junior Julia Schurr (Canal Winchester/ Bloom-Carroll) ran a career best time of 1:02.46 in the 400 meter dash.

 

Bradley track and field will be back in action next Saturday at noon as they travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa to participate in the University of Northern Iowa Invite.
