OMAHA, Neb. -- Bradley tied a season high with nine three-pointers, but shot just 31.6 percent (11-for-36) inside the arc as Creighton scored the final nine points of the game to down the Braves 73-63 in Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball action Saturday at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.

The Braves (4-9 overall, 0-2 MVC) and Bluejays both entered the game looking for their first conference victory of the season and Bradley was also looking to end an eight-game road losing streak that dates back to a road win at Creighton last March. Bradley shot 50 percent from three-point range (6-for-12) in the first half and led by as many as seven points in the opening moments of the game, but Creighton used a 16-1 run to take an eight-point lead (20-12) with 7:45 to play.

Senior Erika Nelson scored eight of her 12 first-half points in the final 6:15 of the period to help the Braves cut Creighton's lead to four points (33-29) at the break.

The Bluejays outscored the Braves 15-6 over the first seven minutes of the second half to push their lead to 13 points (48-35), before Bradley clawed back into the game. Junior Devyn Flanagan followed a Nelson free throw with back-to-back baskets to cut the lead to single digits. Nelson's fourth three-pointer of the game cut the deficit to six points (53-47) with under nine minutes to play. After a pair of free throws by Amy Peters cut the CU advantage to 53-49, the Bluejays came back with consecutive buckets to push their lead back to eight points.

Nelson and Ashley Chelleen had consecutive layups for the Braves to cut it to four points and Chelleen added a pair of free throws with 5:21 remaining to make it a two-point game (59-57). Creighton took a five-point lead on a Michelle Kaus three-pointer before Flanagan scored four straight points to pull Bradley to within one point (64-63) with 2:13 to play.

Creighton (4-11 overall, 1-3 MVC) came up clutch in the end, however, making both of its field goal attempts and was 5-for-5 from the line in the closing minutes as the Bluejays scored the final nine points of the game to finish off the 73-63 victory.

Bradley shot 34.5 percent from the field, including 40.9 percent (9-for-22) from three-point range. The Braves committed 19 turnovers in the game, but had just seven turnovers in the second half. Creighton shot 52.2 percent from the field in the second half, however, and finished with a 44.8 field goal percentage.

Nelson connected on 4-of-10 three-point attempts and had a team-high 18 points to lead four Bradley players in double figures. Flanagan made five of her final eight shots in the game and finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals, while Peters chipped in with 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Chelleen scored 10 points off the bench in addition to five rebounds, one blocked shots and one steal.

Sara Cain led Creighton with a career-high 19 points in her first appearance off the bench this season. Cain connected on 8-of-12 field goal attempts and was one of four Bluejays in double figures. Michelle Kaus hit four three-pointers and added 14 points, while Chevelle Herring and Sam Schuett both had 13 points. Schuett also grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds as she notched her first career double-double.

Bradley closes out its three-game Missouri Valley Conference road swing Monday at Drake at 7:05 p.m.
