ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Bradley women's tennis team completed the first day of the ITA Midwest Regionals in Ann Arbor, Mich. Thursday, as sophomores Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) and Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) each dropped a pair of matches in the qualifying round.
Buterbaugh fell in the first round of the qualifying braket to Michigan State's Lindsey Lonergan, 6-1, 6-1, before dropping a straight set match to Kayla Berry of Iowa in the consolation bracket, 6-2, 6-4. Regenold also lost in the first round of the qualifying bracket, falling in straight sets to Irina Kalashnikova of Drake, 6-4, 6-0. Regenold squared off against Amy Recht of IPFW in the consolation bracket, losing 6-2, 6-4.
Sophomore Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and Buterbaugh will pair to play in the doubles round of 64 against Iowa's Lynne Poggensee-Wei and Berry on Friday.
