Senior Rikki Sobel (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) shot a season-low 75 in the second round of the Pat Bradley Women's Golf Championship, helping Bradley to an eighth-place showing after day one at the par-72 Pelican Preserve Golf Club. The Braves enter Tuesday's final round of play, 22 shots behind tournament-leader South Florida.
Sobel finished the day alone in 16th place at 152 after rounds of 77 and a season-best 75. Junior Bari-Lynn Erais (Lethbridge, Alberta/Lethbridge Institute) had the best round of the day with a first-round 74, but struggled in the afternoon, shooting 82 to end the day in a tie for 27th at 156.
Senior Whitney Cox (Edmonton, Alberta/Harry Ainlay) is tied with Erais for 27th, firing a first-round 79 and tying a season low with a second-round 77 to also finish the day at 156. Freshman Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Coaldale) is one shot behind Erais and Cox in tie for 32nd at 157, following rounds of 80 and 77. Fellow freshman Amanda Mendrek (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) carded rounds of 85 and a season-low 83 to finish day one in 60th place at 168.
South Florida holds the top spot in the team standings with a two-round total of 599. Texas Tech is one shot behind South Florida in second place at 600, while Florida Atlantic is third at 606. Florida International is fourth at 607 and Middle Tennessee State completes the top five at 608. Wofford enters Tuesday's final round in sixth at 618.
Missouri Valley Conference rival Southern Illinois sits in seventh after 36 holes at 619, with Bradley following closely behind in eighth at 621 (310-311). Florida Gulf Coast is 16 shots behind the Braves in ninth place at 637.
Bradley closes out its fall schedule Tuesday with the final round of the Pat Bradley Women's Golf Championship.
