Women?s Golf Wraps Up Fall Schedule With Seventh Place Finish

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Freshman Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Coaldale) turned in the low round of the day for the Braves with a final-round 77 to help the Bradley women's golf team move up one spot and finish seventh at the Pat Bradley Women's Golf Championship at the par-72 Pelican Preserve Golf Club, Tuesday.

Senior Rikki Sobel (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) was Bradley's top finisher, shooting a third-round 79 to finish tied for 18th at 231. Neufeld was three shots behind Sobel in a tie for 24th at 234, following her final round 77. Senior Whitney Cox (Edmonton, Alberta/Harry Ainlay) also finished tied for 24th at 234, carding a 78 during Tuesday's play.

Junior Bari-Lynn Erais (Lethbridge, Alberta/Lethbridge Institute) fired a 79 in the third round and was tied for 31st at 235. Freshman Amanda Mendrek (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) rounded out the team scoring, shooting a season-low 82 to finish tied for 58th at 250.

South Florida claimed the team title with a three-round score of 896. Tournament host Florida Atlantic was tied with Middle Tennessee State for second at 908, while Texas Tech was fourth at 910. Florida Atlantic finished fifth overall at 914 and Missouri Valley Conference foe Southern Illinois was sixth at 926.

Bradley finished eight shots behind the Salukis in seventh place at 934. The Braves shot a final round 313 to move up one spot in the standings, passing Wofford College, which finished eighth at 939.

The Pat Bradley Women's Golf Championship marked the end of the fall schedule for the Braves. Erais finished the fall slate with a team-best 76.9 stroke average and shot nine of her 11 rounds in the 70's to pace Bradley. The Braves are slated to open their spring schedule Feb. 11-12 at the Baja Invitational in Ensenada, Mexico.
