For the second time this season, Bradley sophomore Chris Cutshaw (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.) has been named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The news comes just one day after Cutshaw was named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Cutshaw also claimed both awards the week of September 6.
The sophomore forward/midfielder led the Braves to a come-from-behind, 3-2 victory at 19th-ranked Maryland in the third round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday, Dec. 1. Cutshaw scored the tying goal with less than a minute left in regulation, helping the Braves erase a 2-0 deficit with less than three minutes to play and force overtime. He added another goal in double overtime, heading in the game-winning score with 75 seconds remaining in the extra session to send the Braves to the Elite Eight. Cutshaw has appeared in all 25 games for the Braves this season, tallying eight goals and three assists. He was an Honorable Mention MVC Scholar-Athlete for the 2007 season, as well as the 2006 Valley Freshman of the Year.
Cutshaw, an international business major, owns a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Now in its ninth year of existence, The Valley's Scholar-Athlete program is sponsored by Prairie Farms, Roberts and Hiland Dairies. On a weekly basis, the Conference honors its student -athletes for the their athletic performance for a one-week period and academic success in the classroom.
