PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley shot 56 percent in the first half and made six of its first seven attempts from the field in the second half, but made just four of its final 20 shots to allow Creighton to come from behind and edge the Braves 69-65 in Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball action Thursday night at Robertson Memorial Field House.

The Braves (7-14 overall, 3-7 MVC) led by as many as 10 points in the first half, using an early 13-0 run to build an 18-8 lead with 12:11 to play before the break. Bradley led 28-18 after an Amy Peters three-pointer with 6:19 to play in the half, when consecutive three-pointers by the Bluejays sparked a 14-6 Creighton spurt to end the half that pulled the Bluejays to within two points at 34-32.

Bradley made 14-of-25 shots (56 percent) in the first half, while Creighton shot 46.7 percent, but the Braves committed 14 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes of play allowing the Bluejays to keep the score close.

Creighton (9-12 overall, 6-4 MVC) opened the second half on fire, hitting six of its first nine shots from the field, but the Braves were even hotter, connecting on six of its seven attempts in the same span of time and took a 50-46 lead with 14:13 remaining on a Jen Brown three-pointer.

Bradley would go cold from the field, making just one of its next 14 shots to help Creighton go on a 12-2 run that gave the Bluejays a 58-52 lead with 6:29 to play. A pair of Ashley Chelleen free throws and a Peters layup with 4:19 on the clock cut the deficit to 58-56, but a Megan Neuvirth layup with 2:54 to play made it a two possession game. The Braves would cut the deficit to two points on four more occasions but Creighton answered each time to thwart Bradley's come back attempts.

Creighton's Tyrai Bronson hit a three-pointer with 2:07 to play, followed a pair of Erika Nelson free throws to put the Bluejays back ahead 63-58. A three-point play by Chelleen with 1:40 left that made it a two-point game again at 63-61, but was followed by an Ally Thrall jumper in the lane at 1:17 that put Creighton ahead 65-61. Thrall, who scored the final six points of the game for Creighton, made all four of her free throw attempts in the closing moments of the game to seal the victory for Creighton.

Chelleen posted her second straight double-double, finishing with team highs of 17 points and 11 rebounds off the bench to lead four Braves in double figures. Nelson added 14 points, while Brown (13 points) and Peters (11 points) were also in double figures in scoring. Bradley, which was 20-for-32 (62.5 percent) from the field at one point in the game, made just four of 20 shots to close the contest to finish the game at 46.2 percent shooting. The Braves committed just three second-half turnovers, but were outrebounded 17-14 in the second half.

Neuvirth led all players with 19 points to pace three Creighton players in double figures and also added a game-high six assists. Thrall added 15 points, while Sam Schuett had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Creighton shot 50 percent in the second half and won in Peoria for the 16th consecutive time dating back to the 1989-90 season.

Bradley returns to action Saturday when the Braves play host to preseason Missouri Valley Conference favorite Drake at 2:05 p.m. at Robertson Memorial Field House. Saturday's game will be Biddy Braves day with all children 12 and under receiving free admission.
