FORT WAYNE, Ind. ? The Bradley women's tennis team picked up a pair of non-conference victories Friday, downing Detroit-Mercy (4-3) and Robert Morris (7-0) to even its record at 3-3 on the spring.
In the first match of the day, the Braves took two out of three doubles matches and three of six singles matches from Detroit-Mercy to post a 4-3 victory over the Titans. The duos of senior Elise Montrose Portland, Ore./Sunset) and freshman Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) and tandem of freshman Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) and sophomore Erin Krubeck (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) were both victorious in double play.
Freshman Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) earned a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles over Ingrid Stensvaag, 6-1, 6-1, and Buterbaugh also won in straight sets at No. 5 singles over Detroit's Stephanie Hill. At No. 6 singles, sophomore Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) helped wrap up the victory with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Amy Inman.
Bradley completed a solid day on the courts with a 7-0 sweep of Robert Morris to even its record at 3-3 in dual matches. Each of the six singles matches were won by the Braves in straight sets with Montrose (No. 1 ? 6-2, 6-3), Regenold (No. 2 ? 6-1, 6-0), senior Teri Chan (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) (No. 3 ? 6-0, 6-0), Donohue (No. 4 ? 6-0, 6-1), Buterbaugh (No. 5 ? 6-0, 6-0) and Braun (No. 6 ? 6-0, 6-0) each picking up wins in singles play.
The Braves return to action Saturday at 2 p.m. at IPFW.
