CARBONDALE, Ill. ? The Braves set three season-best performances during the first day of competition at the 2007 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship at Southern Illinois.
Freshmen Catherine Schamberger (Amboy, Ill./Amboy) and Anne Bucalo (Fox River Grove, Ill./Cary-Grove), along with senior Kim Martin (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) put in solid performances in the shot put competition. Bucalo set a new season-best in the event with a toss of 11.84 meters (38'10.25”) to finish 13th, while Martin was 14th with a season-best toss of 11.82 meters (38'09.50”) and Schamberger took 16th with a throw of 11.50 meters (37'08.75").
Senior Maya Monitto-Webber (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City) and sophomore Amanda Harms (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South) were the Braves runners in the 60-meter hurdles and finished with times of 9.76 and 9.82 seconds, respectively. Harms ran Bradley's third season-best performance of the day.
Junior Julia Schurr (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Bloom-Carroll) was Bradley's lone runner in the 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 1:03.77 to finish in 16th place. Meanwhile, freshman Erika Sepich (Canton, Ill./Canton) finished with a time of 28.00 in the 200-meter dash to wrap up the afternoon for the Braves.
The 2007 State Farm MVC Indoor Track and Field Championships will continue Saturday at Southern Illinois.
