Indiana State hit seven of its first eight shots from the field and jumped out to an 18-0 lead and never looked back as the defending regular-season Missouri Valley Conference champs went on to post an 86-50 victory over Bradley Sunday in MVC women's basketball action at the Hullman Center in Terre Haute, Ind.
The loss coupled with a Creighton guaranteed Bradley no better than a seventh-place finish in the regular-season MVC race, which concludes next week.
Bradley (11-17 overall, 7-10 MVC) struggled offensively, making one of its first 10 shots from the field and scored just 16 points in the first half of play as the Sycamores led 43-16 at the half.
The Braves scored the first basket of the second half, but Indiana State (17-10 overall, 10-6 MVC) responded with a 10-0 run that extended the lead to 35 points.
Junior Devyn Flanagan led the Braves with nine points while seniors Ashley Chelleen and Amy Peters both added eight points each. Bradley shot 29.3 percent from the floor, but was just 11-for-40 inside the arc and made 6-of-18 three-point attempts. The Braves committed 21 turnovers compared to just 12 Indiana State turnovers and the Sycamores owned a 26-7 edge in points off turnovers.
Laura Rudolphi led Indiana State with 19 points and eight rebounds, hitting 6-of-11 shots. Three other Sycamores were in double figures as Indiana State shot 55.2 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Bradley returns to action Saturday when the Braves close out the regular-season against Northern Iowa at 7:05 p.m. at Robertson Memorial Field House.
