PEORIA, Ill. - The Bradley women's tennis team dominated its home opener, shutting out Western Illinois, 7-0. The Braves (1-1 overall) began the afternoon winning all three doubles matches and never looked back, sweeping all six singles matches.

Senior Elise Montrose (Portland, Ore. /Sunset) won over Kim Lennartsson 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, picking up her 42nd career singles victory and is two victories short of climbing into the top ten on the career singles wins list. Freshman Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio /Princeton) also dominated her match at No. 2 singles winning 6-2, 6-1 over Constanza Comancho.

Senior Teri Chan (Gunree, Ill./Warren) defeated Yana Meinert, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, pushing her school record to 64 career singles victories and is one win shy of tying the combined victories record held by Joie Rolf and Ashley Morris at 105.

Freshmen Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky. /Sacred Heart Academy) and Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) earned straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectfully. Donohue beat Courtney Brooks, 6-0, 7-6 for the victory at No. 4 singles. Buterbaugh defeated Stephanie Braumer, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.

Sophomore Kim Braun (Racine, Wisc. /The Prairie School) won her second straight match, defeating Jessica Drake in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3 to complete the sweep of the Westerwinds.

In doubles, the duo of Montrose and Donohue took out Lennartsson and Braumer 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Buterbaugh and Braun defeated the Meinert and Brooks combo winning 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, while sophomore Erin Krubeck (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) and Regenold also made quick work of Comancho and Drake 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

The Braves are back in action Sunday as they play host to Valparaiso at the Clubs at River City.
