RIO VERDE, Ariz. ? Junior Rikki Sobel shot a season-low 74 and sophomore Bari-Lynn Erais matched Sobel's second round 74 to help the Bradley women's golf team climb into 13th after two rounds of play at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational at the par-72 Quail Run Golf Course in Rio Verde, Ariz.
Erais matched her lowest round of the spring with a two-over par 74 Saturday to move into a tie for 22nd place at 152 heading into Sunday's final round. Sobel also carded a season-low 74 in the second round and is one shot behind Erais in the individual standings in a tie for 31st at 153.
Sophomore Lauren Downing shot a career-best 77, firing her first round in the 70's as a Brave, and is tied for 72nd after 159 following two rounds of play. Junior Whitney Cox also shot a 77 Saturday and is also tied with Downing for 72nd. Senior Charlotte McGinnis shot an 82 in the second round and is tied for 77th at 160.
The Braves entered the day tied for 16th in the 18-team field, but the lowest round of the spring season at 302 to move into 13th place. Toledo shot a one-over par 289 to take over the lead at 587 after 36 holes.
Baylor is just two shots back in second place at 589, while Arkansas-Little Rock (594) and Wisconsin (603) are third and fourth, respectively. There is a four-way tie for fifth place at 604, between Southern Illinois, Texas Tech, Missouri State and tournament host Western Michigan.
Minnesota will enter Sunday's final round in ninth place at 609 and Eastern Michigan rounds out the top 10 at 611. Xavier and Cincinnati are tied for 11th at 614 and hold a five-shot edge on Bradley, which is 13th at 619. Illinois State is two shots back of the Braves in 14th at 621 and Illinois is 15th at 622. Bowling Green finished Saturday's action in 16th at 628, while Ohio (17th ? 636) and Ball State (18th ? 638) complete the field.
Bradley will close out play at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational with one round of play.
