CHICAGO, Ill. ? The Bradley women's tennis team lost its third straight match, suffering a 5-2 setback at the hands of DePaul at the Lakeshore Athletic Club in Chicago.
DePaul won two of three doubles matches to open the match, and won each of the first four singles matches to pick up the victory.
The duo of senior Elise Montrose (Portland, Ore./Sunset) and freshman Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) fell 8-2 to Dunja Antunovic and Bojana Murisic at No. 1 doubles, while the tandem of senior Teri Chan (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) and sophomore Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) dropped their No. 2 doubles match to Kristen Gambrell and Anja Mihaldinec, 8-2. Freshman Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) and sophomore Erin Krubeck (Boulder Colo./Fairview) won at No. 3 doubles by default.
Buterbaugh picked up Bradley's lone singles win, downing Clare Chmiel 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and sophomore Kim Braun won by default at #6 singles.
Montrose fell in her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-2 to Dunja Antunovic, who is ranked 77th in the country. Regenold dropped her match at No. 2 singles against Kristen Gambrell in straight sets, falling 6-0, 6-2.
Chan had her five-match winning streaked snapped at No. 3 singles by Bojana Murisic, 6-4, 6-2. Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) lost in straight sets at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1 to Anja Mihaldinec.
The Braves return to action March 20 when they open their spring break trip against Coastal Carolina at 2 p.m. in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
