Box Score CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. ? Sophomore Ashley Birdsong pitched her second career no hitter and Bradley cranked out 12 hits in a 10-0 rout of Belmont Sunday at the Southeast Missouri State Spring Classic in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Birdsong stuck out seven and walked just one in a complete game no hitter as she improved to 8-1 on the season. She earned her team leading eighth victory of the year and won for the 14th time in her last 15 decisions. Birdsong allowed just one base runner, surrendering a two-out walk in the second inning.
Bradley's offense provided more than enough production for Birdsong, belting out 12 hits, including five for extra bases.
Sophomore Katy Dammer drove in the first run with an RBI single in the top of the second inning. Two more runs crossed in the top of the third inning on a two-run single up the middle off the bat of freshman Lauren Meister to give Bradley a 3-0 lead.
Dammer led of the fourth inning with a triple and freshman Amanda Clack reached on a fielder's choice before Janay Mitchell drove both in with her second triple of the season to give Bradley a 5-0 advantage. Mitchell eventually scored on a single by senior Elizabeth Wilson.
Dammer scored her second run of the contest in the fifth inning on a two-out double to right center by Clack.
Sophomore Alycia Bachkora led off the top of the seventh inning with her team-leading third home run of the year and the Braves added runs on a Clack sacrifice fly and RBI single by Mitchell.
Bradley improved to 10-3 on the season, while Belmont fell to 5-13 with the loss. Mitchell helped lead Bradley offensively, going 3-for-5 with one run and three RBI. Dammer was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI and Meister also finished with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
The Braves conclude play at the Southeast Missouri State Spring Classic Sunday at 11:30 a.m. against IUPUI.
