MT. PLEASANT, S.C. ? The Bradley women's tennis team completed its spring break trip to the Carolinas with a 7-0 loss to College of Charleston, Thursday afternoon at the Patriot's Point Tennis Center.
The duo of senior Elise Montrose (Portland, Ore./Sunset) and freshman Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) fell 8-0 to Laura Borza and Maxine Capewell at No. 1 doubles and the tandem of freshman Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and sophomore Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) dropped their No. 2 doubles match to College of Charleston's Anna Lee Evans and Amanda Becker, 8-1. Freshman Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) and sophomore Erin Krubeck (Boulder Colo./Fairview) rallied from behind in their match with Amber Dyar and Julie Howard at No. 3 doubles, but eventually fell 8-4.
Senior Teri Chan (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) took the first-set 6-3 at No. 3 singles from Holly Dowse, but dropped the final two-sets, 6-2, 10-6. Montrose dropped her match to Chelsea Albertz, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles Regenold suffered a 6-2, 6-1 loss to Laura Borza.
Donohue lost at No. 4 singles to Amanda Becker, 6-0, 6-0 and Buterbaugh also fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to Maxine Capewell. Braun rounded out singles play, with a 6-2, 6-0 setback at No. 6 singles to Amber Dyar.
Bradley fell to 5-9 with the loss, while College of Charleston improved to 10-4 on the year.
The Braves will be back in action next week when they open Missouri Valley Conference play at home, Thursday against Illinois State at 3 p.m. at the Markin Tennis Courts.
