MILWAUKEE, Wis. ? The Bradley women's tennis team had its four match wining streak snapped in a 4-3 loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee Sunday.
After taking two of three doubles matches for the doubles point from the Panthers, the Braves only could muster two victories out of the six singles matches in the loss and fall to 5-4 on the season.
The duo of senior Elise Montrose (Portland, Ore./Sunset) and freshman Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) claimed an 8-2 win over Kari Kastenholz and Ashley Schoneman at No. 1 doubles, while the tandem of freshman Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) and sophomore Erin Krubeck (Boulder Colo./Fairview) defeated Traci Litscher and Shayna Illingworth 8-5 at No. 3 doubles, clinching the doubles point for the Braves.
Senior Teri Chan (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) took out Ashley Schoneman in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, while sophomore Erin Krubeck's 6-1, 2-6, 11-9 win at No. 6 singles over Laura Fenley was her second win of the afternoon.
Montrose fell in her No. 1 singles match to Kelly Dirvaric, 6-1, 7-6, while Regenold dropped her match at No. 2 singles against Kari Kastenholz, 7-6-, 6-1.
Buterbaugh was defeated in straight sets at No. 4 singles by Ali O'Neal 6-4, 6-1, while sophomore Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) dropped her No.5 singles match to Traci Litscher, 6-4, 6-2.
The Braves return home to play host Eastern Illinois this Wednesday at noon at the Clubs at River City.
