WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? Senior Sarah Westrick (Livonia, Mich. /Winston Churchill) was fourth in the 5,000 meter run to highlight Saturday's action for the Bradley Track and Field team at the Purdue Mike Poehlein Invitational.
Westrick (Livonia, Mich. /Winston Churchill) finished fourth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:06.51, while freshman Rachel Brubaker (Davis, Ill./Durand) was seventh, crossing the line at 18:49.42.
Senior Jennifer Jenkins (Calumet City, Ill./ Thornwood) had the highest finish of the afternoon for the Braves with a third-place showing in the hammer throw. Jenkins had a heave of 48.75 meters. Freshman Catherine Schamberger (Amboy, Ill./Amboy) finished in 24th-place with a throw of 34.20 meters, while Anne Bucalo (Fox River Grove, Ill./Cary-Grove) finished in 30th-place with toss of 28.70 meters.
Bucalo also took 13th in the shot put with a toss of 12.18 meters, while Schamberger finished in 15th-place with a toss of 11.60 meters. In the discus, Bucalo earned a 22nd-place finish with a throw of 39.92 meters and Schamberger finished in 28th with a toss of 29.12 meters.
Sophomore Trish Martens (Elgin, Ill. /Burlington Central) rounded out the field competition for the Braves with a sixth-place showing in the triple-jump with a leap of 9.80 meters.
Freshman Shannon Seyller (Harvard, Ill./Harvard) finished the 1,500 meter in 19th-place with a time of 4:59.56. Junior Julia Schurr (Canal Winchester, Ill./Bloom-Carroll) finished the 400 meters in seventh-place with a time of 1:02.49, and Seyller was just outside of the top 10 with an 11th-place finish at 1:05.15.
Freshman Erika Sepich (Canton, Ill./Canton) paced five Bradley runners in the 200-meter dash, finishing in a time of 27.50. Sepich also led four Braves in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line at 13.00 to finish 14th.
Sophomore Nikki Greendyke (Grenville, Ohio/Greenville) finished the 800 meter run in 42nd-place with a time of 2:34.87.
Senior Maya Monitto-Webber (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City) was 14th in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a 1:09.01. Senior Shannon Calvert (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) finished the 100 meter hurdles with a season-best time of 17.52 to finish 19th.
The Braves return to action April 6 at the Eastern Illinois Big Blue Classic in Charleston, Ill.
