OMAHA, Neb. ? The Bradley women's tennis team fell 4-3 to Creighton in Missouri Valley Conference action at the Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center Friday afternoon. Bradley fell to 5-14 overall and 0-5 in the MVC with the loss.
Freshman Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) and sophomore Erin Krubeck (Boulder Colo./Fairview) combined for Bradley's only doubles win, picking up an 8-6 victory over Jodi Yanagida and Cassie Yoneshige at No. 3 doubles. The duo of senior Elise Montrose (Portland, Ore./Sunset) and freshman Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) fell 8-0 to Katie Chiu and Tess Reddin at No. 1 doubles, in what proved to be the deciding match of the day. Freshman Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and sophomore Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) lost to Lindsey Erickson and Nicole Thurston, 9-8 (14-12) at No. 2 doubles.
Senior Teri Chan (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) defeated Nicole Thurston 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. After splitting the first two sets at No. 5 singles 6-4, 5-7, Buterbaugh took the third set from Jodi Yanagida 6-0, while Braun defeated Cassie Yonshige at No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-1.
Montrose dropped her match to Katie Chiu, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 1 singles. Regenold fell to Tess Reddin at No. 2 singles 6-0, 7-6 (7-5), while Donohue lost at No. 4 singles to Lindsey Erickson in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.
The Braves will be back in action Sunday when they continue Missouri Valley Conference play at Wichita State at 10:00 a.m.
