DES MOINES, Iowa ? Senior Jennifer Jenkins (Calumet City, Ill./ Thornwood) won the hammer throw to highlight Saturday's action for the Bradley Track and Field team at the Jim Duncan Invitational.
Competing at Central College in nearby Pella, Iowa, Jenkins' throw paced the 17 competitors in the field with a heave of 48.99 meters. Freshman Catherine Schamberger (Amboy, Ill./Amboy) finished in 10th-place with a throw of 35.69 meters, while Anne Bucalo (Fox River Grove, Ill./Cary-Grove) finished in 16th-place with toss of 28.95 meters.
Bucalo also took sixth in the shot put with a toss of 11.75 meters, while Schamberger tied for 11th place with a toss of 11.09 meters. In the discus, Bucalo earned a seventh-place finish with a throw of 37.71 meters and Schamberger finished in 16th with a toss of 32.58 meters. Freshman Erika Sepich (Canton, Ill./Canton) earned a 15th-place finish in the javelin competition with a throw of 24.80 meters.
At Drake Stadium, sophomore Jessica Holloway (Paris, Ill./Paris) finished the long jump competition in 22nd-place with a jump of 4.57 meters, while fellow sophomore Trish Martens (Elgin, Ill. /Burlington Central) rounded out the field competition for the Braves with a 12th-place showing in the triple-jump with a leap of 9.97 meters.
Junior Ainslie Schultz (Forest City, Iowa/Forest City) had the best finish in the 3,000 meter run with a sixth-place and a time of 10:09.40. Senior Sarah Westrick (Livonia, Mich. /Winston Churchill) finished 11th with a time of 10:20.11, while freshman Rachel Brubaker (Davis, Ill./Durand) was 17th, crossing the line at 10:43.26. Sophomore Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) finished in 20th-place with a time of 10:51.00, while freshman Marlana Haefelin (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) finished right behind her with a time of 10:51.99 in 21st-place. Junior Shelby Lile (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) clocked a time of 11:06.10, while freshman Amanda Switzer rounded out the race with a 30th-place finish with a time of 11:23.94.
Martens lead the Braves in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.62 for a 30th-place showing, while Holloway finished in 13.82 for a 42nd place effort. Senior Shannon Calvert (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) finished with a time of 13.98 and Amanda Harms (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South) clocked a time of 14.01. Martens also lead the Braves in the 200-meter dash finishing 50th and clocking a time of 28.39. Holloway finished in 29.31(55th) and Calvert rounded out the event for the Braves with a time of 29.54.
Sophomore Nikki Greendyke (Greenville, Ohio/Greenville) finished the 800 meter run in 29th-place with a season-best time of 2:32.02.
Senior Maya Monitto-Webber (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City) was 10th in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a 1:08.99. Calvert finished the 100 meter hurdles with a season-best time of 16.88 to finish 24th, while Harms finished the with a time of 17.12 to finish 28th.
The Braves return to action Friday and Saturday at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
