PEORIA, Ill. ? Sophomore women's golfer Bari-Lynn Erais (Lethbridge, Alberta/Lethbridge Institute) has been named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference women's scholar-athlete of the week announced by the league office Friday, after earning medalist honors at last week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference women's golf championship.
Erais helped the Braves to a second-place finish and became the third different Bradley player to earn medalist honors at the MVC Championship, shooting a 219 in the three-round event to finish three shots ahead of teammate and second-place finisher Rikki Sobel.
After a first-round 79, Erais shot a career-best 70 in the second round, tying for the third-best individual round in school history. She followed that with another 70 in the final round to take home medalist honors and earn All-MVC recognition for the second straight year. An accounting major, Erais owns a 3.79 cumulative grade point average.
To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
