CARBONDALE, Ill. ? The Bradley women's tennis team suffered its third consecutive loss to open Missouri Valley Conference play, falling 6-1 loss to Southern Illinois Friday afternoon at the SIU University Courts.  Bradley fell to 5-12 overall and 0-3 in the MVC with the loss, while Southern Illinois improved to 10-4 and 2-0 in the MVC.

The duo of freshman Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and sophomore Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) won their No. 2 doubles match against SIU's Agata Skorupska and Amanda Taillefer, 8-4 to highlight doubles play for the Braves. The duo of senior Elise Montrose (Portland, Ore./Sunset) and freshman Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) fell 8-4 to Michela Cruise and Jessica Flannery at No. 1 doubles, while freshman Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) and sophomore Erin Krubeck (Boulder Colo./Fairview) lost to Sabrine Tsala Mvilongo and Martina Vianna Ce, 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Regenold earned the only singles victory for the Braves, defeating Anne Blacketer 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Donohue took the first set of her match at No. 3 singles 6-2, but Agata Skorupska rallied to take the final two sets 7-5, 6-4 to pick up the victory.  At No. 4 singles, Buterbaugh suffered a hard-fought 7-6, 6-3 loss to Jessica Flannery.

Montrose dropped her match to Sabrine Tsala Mvilongo, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Kim Braud fell 6-1, 6-2 to Vianna Ce at No. 5 singles.  Krubeck rounded out singles play, with a 6-2, 6-0 setback at No. 6 singles to Michela Cruise.

The Braves will be back in action Saturday when at Evansville at 3 p.m.
