MACOMB, Ill. ? Senior Scott Phegley turned in the best round of the tournament for the Braves with a final round 81 Saturday to help the Bradley men's golf team to a ninth-place finish among NCAA Division I schools at the Beu/Mussatto Invitational at the par-72 Harry Mussatto Golf Course.
Phegley's 81 helped him move into a tie for 39th place with a two-round score of 166. Fellow senior Brad Molitor followed up his first-round 84 with a second-round 83 and finished one shot behind Phegley in a tie for 44th at 167.
Freshman Kyle Phelan carded a second-round 84 and finished at 169 to tie for 53rd place, while junior Nick Roth rounded out the team-scoring Saturday with an 82 to finish tied for 65th at 172. Freshman Zach Zobrist fired an 89 during Saturday's play to tie for 77th at 175.
Tournament-host Western Illinois won the team total with a score of 623 after shooting 311 Saturday. DePaul finished seven shots behind the Leathernecks in second place at 630 after firing a tournament-best 310 during Saturday's play.
North Dakota State was third in the team standings at 631. Western Illinois-Gold was fourth among Division I teams at 646 and was followed by Creighton at 649. Wisconsin-Green Bay finished sixth among Division I teams with a score 656, with Chicago State (657) and IUPUI (660) following closely behind.
Bradley was 10 shots better on Saturday with a final round 330 and was ninth among DI schools at 670. Loyola rounded out the field at 677.
The Braves will take part in their final tournament before the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, April 15-16 at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Indianapolis, Ind.
