Former Bradley Soccer All-American Gavin Glinton scored his first goal of the season Saturday night, but it was not enough to prevent a short-handed Columbus Crew side from pulling out a 3-2 win against Glinton's Galaxy at the Home Depot Center.

Glinton's diving header is one of five nominees for the MLS Sierra Mist Goal of the Week.  Bradley fans are encouraged to visit MLSnet.com and cast their vote for Glinton's goal.  The link to the “Goal of the Week” voting may be found approximately halfway down the main page at www.mlsnet.com.

Glinton remains the only four-time All-American in Bradley Athletics and Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer history.  After graduating from Bradley as the all-time leading scorer in Valley men's soccer history, Glinton was a second-round pick by the Galaxy in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft.  He was one of the top rookies in MLS in 2002 before a broken ankle ended his season prematurely.  \\

Glinton was traded to the then Dallas Burn during the 2003 season, but injuries again cut short his season and ultimately forced him out of the league.  Still struggling with his injuries, Glinton returned to Peoria in 2005 for rehab and volunteered as an assistant coach for the Braves, helping his old team to its second MVC regular-season title and its third appearance in the NCAA Tournament.  He returned to pro soccer in 2006, starring for the Charleston Battery in the USL First Division.

After re-signing with the Galaxy last fall, Glinton suffered a groin injury that delayed the start of his 2007 season.  Having recovered from his surgical procedure in Germany last month, Glinton hit the pitch for the first time as a second-half substitute in last weekend's win against Real Salt Lake.  He again entered in the second half Saturday night against Columbus and made an immediate impact.  Running through the middle of the field on a quick counter, Glinton dove between two Columbus defenders to finish off Cobi Jones' cross from the right flank.
