BOWLING GREEN, Ohio --
Sophomore Zach Wanken (Galesburg, Ill.) was the only Bradley player to shoot in the 70's, firing a final round 76 to finish tied for 34th at the John Piper Intercollegiate at the par-72 Stone Creek Golf Club, Tuesday. Wanken and the Braves finished 15th.
Wanken entered the day in tie for 48th place, but moved into a tie for 34th after firing a final round 76 to finish at 227 (75-76-76). Freshman Coby Thompson (East Galesburg, Ill./Knoxville) finished two shots behind Wanken in a tie for 46th place at 229 (75-72-82), following a final round 82.
Senior Tommie Ackerman (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian/Illinois Central) shot an 83 during Tuesday's action and finished in 74th place at 242 (82-77-83), while fellow senior Nick Roth (Rochester, Ill./Rochester/Illinois Central) matched his second-round 85 with a third-round 85 to finish 77th at 251 (81-85-85) and round out the scoring for the Braves. Freshman Nate Perry (Normal, Ill./Normal West) carded an 86 in his final round to finish 78th at 252 (79-87-86).
Eastern Kentucky continued its solid play, shooting a five-under 283 Tuesday to finish at 20-under par 844. Tournament host Bowling Green was second at six-under par 858. Wisconsin-Green Bay finished third at 879 and was followed by Cleveland State (883) and Ball State (890) to round out the top five.
St. Bonaventure was sixth overall at 896 and was followed by Detroit and Youngstown who both tied for seventh at 898. Butler and a second Bowling Green squad were both tied for ninth at 900, while Dayton was 11th at 907. Wright State was two shots behind the Flyers in 12th place at 909. Ohio placed 13th with a three-round total of 911, while Oakland was 14th at 933 and Bradley completed the field in 15th at 946.
The Braves return to action Oct. 1 & 2 at the John Dallio Memorial at the Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, Ill.
