OMAHA, Neb.-- On the second day of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Individuals Women's Tennis Championships, Bradley sophomore Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral) and junior Erin Krubeck (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) posted backdraw victories to lead the Bradley women's team.
Buterbaugh knocked off Wichita State's Olga Elkin in the Flight 2 singles backdraw in three sets, 1-6, 6-4, 10-7. Krubeck needed only two sets to defeat Stephanie Millis of Evansville in the Flight 5 backdraw, 6-1, 6-0. In the semifinals of Flight 6 singles, junior Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) fell to Illinois State's Tanja Hrovatic in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Sophomore Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) dropped a Flight 1 singles backdraw match to Veronika Leszayova of Drake, 6-1, 6-3. Sophomore Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) dropped a straight set decision to Jessica Flannery of Southern Illinois, 6-2, 6-1.
The doubles pairing of Miller and Krubeck dropped a Flight 3 doubles semifinal match to Carolyne Parent and Hrovatic of Illinois State, 8-4. Miller and Krubeck will play for third place tomorrow.
