Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) has been named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Thursday, after finishing third in the mile last week at the ISU Track and Field Open in Ames, Iowa.
Nowak was the top finisher for the Braves in any event at the Iowa State Track and Field Open, finishing third in the mile with a time of 5:05.13. She finished seven seconds behind first-place finisher Katherine Bloemker and turned in the top mile performance in the Missouri Valley Conference this season. A mechanical engineering major, Nowak owns a 3.96 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Nowak and the Braves return to action Saturday at UNI Invitational in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
