Zach Wanken (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Tuesday, after helping the Bradley men's golf team to a 10th place finish at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Ill.
Wanken was the Braves top finisher in the event, tying for 11th place. He opened up play with a season-best 69 and finished the first day of action at even par (140), following his second round 71. Wanken carded a 75 on the final day to finish at five-over par 215 and post his second consecutive top 20 finish. A chemistry preprofessional major, Wanken owns a 3.96 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Wanken and the Braves return to action next week (Oct. 20-21) at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate in Hopkinsville, Ky.
