PEORIA, Ill. ? Bradley junior forward Chris Cutshaw (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.) scored two goals and freshman forward Bryan Gaul (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) added the game-winner, leading the Braves to a 3-1 Missouri Valley Conference victory over Eastern Illinois at Shea Stadium, Wednesday night. The victory extended Bradley's active MVC regular season unbeaten streak to a school-record 10 games (8-0-2) and was the 200th win in program history.

Cutshaw netted his seventh goal of the season just 12:22 into the match, collecting a rebound in front of Eastern Illinois (5-5-3, 0-1-0 MVC) goalkeeper Mark Hansen and sending a shot into the net for a 1-0 lead. Hansen had come out from his post to punch away a loose ball, giving Cutshaw room to score.

The Braves (6-5-1, 1-0-0 MVC) needed less than 11 minutes to strike again, taking a 2-0 lead on Gaul's third goal of the season in the 24th minute. Gaul's header came off a cross from junior forward Justin Bigelow (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb H.S.), who had gained possession of the ball deep on the right side of the field. Bigelow's assist was his team-high second of the season. The Braves took the 2-0 advantage into the break, the largest halftime advantage at home for Bradley this season.

The hosts added to their lead again in the 60th minute. Sophomore Paul Tracy (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley H.S.) took Bradley's first corner kick of the night, lofting the ball toward the middle of the box. Cutshaw headed Tracy's service past Hansen for his second goal of the night. The pair of goals for Cutshaw gives him eight goals on the season, tying a single season career-high set during his sophomore campaign in 2007.

Less than 10 minutes later, Eastern Illinois trimmed its deficit to 3-1 when Darby Kehoe sent a bouncing ball past Bradley goalkeeper Drew Van Kampen (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley H.S.) into the corner of the net in the 69th minute. The goal, assisted by Jeff Phillips, was Kehoe's first of the season. The Braves controlled the Eastern Illinois attack for the remainder of the match, securing its second home victory of the season.

Bradley junior defenders Grant Campbell (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) and Travis English (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills H.S.) played a solid game, helping hold the visitors to just three shots on goal. Eastern Illinois senior forward Brad Peters, who entered Wednesday's contest as the active Missouri Valley Conference career scoring leader, was held to just two shots for the game. Van Kampen finished the night with two saves to earn his sixth victory of the season. The Bradley goalkeeper has allowed one goal or fewer in nine of the season's 12 matches.

Wednesday's victory extends Bradley's unbeaten streak against Eastern Illinois to 10 games (9-0-1), as the Braves have not dropped a decision to the Panthers since Nov. 2, 2000. The Braves have now run their active unbeaten streak in Missouri Valley Conference openers to eight games (6-0-2) and have not lost a conference opener at home since 2000.

This Saturday, the Braves will welcome second-ranked Creighton to Shea Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Braves and Bluejays played to a 2-2 tie in last season's regular season match in Omaha, Neb., but the Braves claimed a 1-0 victory in the MVC title match on Nov. 18, 2007 to win its first-ever conference tournament championship.
