PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore women's golfer Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday, after helping the Bradley women's golf team to the team title at the Missouri Valley Conference Preview earlier this week.

Deeken tied for third place to post the first top 10 finish of her career and pace the Braves at the par-72 Panorama National Golf Course, which will serve as the site for the 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship in April. She shot a pair of 79's in the 36-hole even to tie for third place (158) and help lead Bradley to its first team title since October 2006. A criminal justice major, Deeken owns a 3.80 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Deeken and the Braves close out their fall schedule Nov. 4-5 at the Lampkin Cup in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
