PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior guard Skye Johnson (Olympia Fields, Ill./Marian Catholic) has been named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced by the league office and was also selected as the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week, Wednesday.

A health science major with a 3.34 cumulative grade point average, Johnson was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week Monday after helping Bradley to a 71-53 victory against Illinois at the United Center Saturday. She finished with 13 points and tied a career-high with nine assists in the win against the Illini. Johnson also had four steals and a career-best four blocked shots to help BU snap Illinois' five-game win streak in games played at the United Center.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Johnson earned Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. She is the second Bradley student-athlete to earn MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors this season, joining soccer player Drew Van Kampen who earned the honor on Sept. 3, and is the first Bradley women's basketball player to earn the distinction since Jen Brown on Feb. 15, 2007.

Johnson and the Braves return to action next Thursday when Bradley plays host to SIU-Edwardsville at 7:05 p.m. at Lorene Ramsey Gym in East Peoria, Ill.
