PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior forward Kelly Krumwiede (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) has been named one of the 30 NCAA Division I women's basketball players selected as candidates for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

The Braves active career leader in scoring and rebounding, Krumwiede has helped Bradley to a 7-2 start to the season, including wins against preseason conference favorites Eastern Illinois and UC Riverside. A member of the Braves Council, the student-athlete advisory committee, she has been involved in several community service projects during her time on The Hilltop. Krumwiede has started six of nine games this season and is averaging 4.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

Based on the criteria of the "Four C's" of classroom, character, community and competition, the award winners will be selected by national balloting of head basketball coaches, national media and college basketball fans.

A national media committee will select 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in February 2009 from the list of 30 nominees. Those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. In addition to voting by Division I head basketball coaches and national media, college basketball games will also be able to submit ballots by text voting or on-line at www.seniorclassaward.com.

Lowe's, an official corporate partner of the NCAA, will present the winners with trophies during the Women's Final Four in St. Louis, Mo. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the award debuted in the 2001-02 season to honor the attributes of college basketball seniors who remain committed to their university and pursue the many rewards that a senior season and complete college education brings.

All 30 female award candidates hail from a different university. Krumwiede is one of two candidates from the Missouri Valley Conference, joining two-time MVC Player of the Year Kristi Cirone of Illinois State among the 30 candidates. A total of 18 conferences are included among the list of nominees.

Krumwiede and the Braves return to action this evening at Toledo. Start time for this evening's game against the Rockets is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (CST).
