Rikki Sobel (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) has been named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Thursday, after helping the Bradley women's golf team to a fourth-place finish at last week's Baja Invitational.
Sobel tied for second place in the Braves spring opener at the Baja Invitational at the par-72 Bajamar Resort in Baja, Mexico. She earned Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week honors for the first time in her career, turning in rounds of 78, 71 and 80 to finish five shots behind individual medalist Tyrette Metzendorf. Sobel's second-round 71 was a career best and helped her post her first top 10 finish of the season and sixth of her career. A business management and administration major, Sobel owns a 3.58 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Sobel and the Braves return to action March 7-9 at the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz.
