Playing a nationally-ranked opponent for the first time this season, the Bradley women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to #51 DePaul in Chicago Saturday night. The Braves have lost two in a row for the first time this season.
DePaul controlled doubles play for an early lead. BU sophomores Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral H.S.) fell at No. 1 doubles, 8-0, to Dunja Antunovic and Beatrix Csordas. At No. 2 doubles, the Bradley pairing of sophomore Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton H.S.) and freshman Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West) lost for the first time this dual season, falling 8-1 to Katarina Milinkovic and Anja Mihaldinec. Bojana Murisic and Selma Salkovic completed the Blue Demon sweep, besting BU juniors Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) and Erin Krubeck (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) at No. 3, 8-0.
The Blue Demons swept all six singles matches, needing more than two sets only once. That match came at No. 5 singles, where Kirsten Gambrell handed Miller her first loss of the spring, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8. Salkovic defeated Regenold at No. 1, 6-2, 6-0. Gergana Ganeva stopped Buterbaugh at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0, while Milinkovic defeated Donohue at No. 3 by an identical 6-0, 6-0 result. Krubeck lost at No. 4 to Mihaldinec, 6-2, 6-0, while Murisic won at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Braun.
Bradley will remain in Chicago for a 3 p.m. dual match with Chicago State Sunday afternoon. The match against the Cougars is the second of seven consecutive road matches for the Braves.
