The Bradley women's tennis team claimed their first Missouri Valley Conference dual victory of the season last week, a 5-2 home victory over Creighton on Friday. It was the first MVC dual win for the Braves since a 4-3 win over Creighton on April 8, 2006.
The victory over the Bluejays was sandwiched by a pair of home losses. Saint Louis defeated the Braves, 6-1, in a non-conference dual at the Markin Tennis Courts on Wednesday. When inclement weather forced play indoors over the weekend, Wichita State shutout the Braves with a 7-0 win on Saturday.
Freshman Nicole Miller continues to play well for the Braves, leading BU with 13 overall victories, 11 spring victories, and two MVC wins. In all, the Braves have gone a combined 28-73 this spring, including a 7-29 mark in league play.
The doubles pairing of Miller and sophomore Emily Regenold won their 12th match of the year on Friday against Creighton. The duo has 10 wins this spring and is the only BU doubles pairing to have won a league match.
BU will conclude the regular season with two home matches this weekend that will also mark the end of a season-long string of five consecutive home matches.
Evansville will visit Peoria Friday for a 1 p.m. start. The Purple Aces dealt BU a 6-1 loss last season in Evansville. The last match of the regular season will be Saturday, as the Braves will host Southern Illinois at 1 p.m. The Braves dropped a 6-1 decision at SIU last season.
