PEORIA, Ill. ? The Bradley women's tennis team played their final regular season match of the season, Sunday, losing a 4-3 contest to Southern Illinois. The Braves won the doubles point before dropping four singles matches.

For the eighth time this season, BU gained an early lead by winning the doubles point. The pairing of sophomore Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) and freshman Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West) won for the 13th time overall and the 11th time at No. 2 doubles, defeating Martina Vianna Ce and Michela Cruise, 9-7. At No. 3, juniors Erin Krubeck (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) and Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) won for the second time this weekend with a 9-7 win over Amanda Taillefer and Andrea Courtney.

The SIU pairing of Sabine Tsala Mvilong and Jessica Flannery defeated BU sophomores Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparal) and Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy), 8-3, for their lone doubles victory at No. 1.

The visitors won four singles match in straight sets to secure the Missouri Valley Conference win. Tsala defeated Regenold at No. 1, 6-2, 6-3, while Ce stopped Donohue at No. 2, 6-3, 6-4. Flannery won at No. 4, 6-4, 6-3 over Buterbaugh. Taillefer's win at No. 5 over Krubeck, 6-4, 6-0, was enough for the SIU victory.

Miller and Braun each earned default victories after SIU had won four singles contests. Miller and Cruise split the first two sets at No. 3 before Miller's default win, while Braun and Courtney also were in a third set before the No. 6 singles match was called for Braun.

Bradley finishes the regular season with a 5-14 record, including a 1-7 mark in the MVC. The State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships begin Thursday in Omaha, Neb.
