The Bradley women's tennis team will open the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships with a 10 a.m. match against Creighton this Friday in Omaha, Neb. The Braves topped the Bluejays, 5-2, in Peoria on April 11. The winner of the 10 a.m. matchup will face top-seeded Indiana State later Friday at 3 p.m.
BU wrapped up the regular season last weekend, falling to Evansville, 5-2 on Friday, before Southern Illinois downed the Braves, 4-3, in the finale on Saturday. Freshman Nicole Miller went 2-0 in singles play at No. 3 during the weekend to bring her MVC record to 3-4. The Braves finished the regular season with a 5-14 record, including a 1-7 MVC mark.
The junior doubles pairing of Erin Krubeck and Kim Braun also swept the weekend to improve to 8-9 during the spring and 2-4 in The Valley.
The Braves finished the regular season with a combined 32-81 singles record, led by Miller's 12 wins. Including the fall tournament schedule, the freshman from Glendale Heights, Ill. has won a team-high 14 times.
Bradley combined for a 21-34 doubles mark during the spring. Miller and and sophomore Emily Regenold have gone 11-8 since the opener against IPFW in early February. BU won the doubles point nine times this season, including a doubles sweep at Valparaiso Feb. 9. and an abbreviated doubles sweep against Western Illinois March 26.
