Bradley junior Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) and sophomore Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton H.S.) were each named to the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete Team, the league office announced Wednesday. Braun was named to the first team, while Regenold received honorable mention.
Braun was named a first team MVC Scholar-Athlete after being an honorable mention selection last season as a sophomore. The junior boasts a cumulative 3.96 grade point average in entrepreneurship. Braun has nine wins this season, tied for second-most on the team. Her six dual victories this spring from the No. 6 position is also second-most on the team.
Regenold owns a cumulative GPA of 3.50 in communications and has played at No. 1 singles for BU in each of their 19 dual matches this spring. She shared the team lead with four victories during the fall tournament schedule and has teamed with freshman Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) to win a team-high 13 doubles matches this season, including three MVC matches.
To qualify for the MVC Scholar-Athlete team, athletes must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and participate as a starter or important reserve role for the team.
The Braves will open the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships this Friday with a 10 a.m match against Creighton in Omaha, Neb.
