Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) has been named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Tuesday, after breaking the school outdoor record in the 800-meter run last week.
Nowak, who earned scholar-athlete of the week honors for the fifth time this school year, broke her own school outdoor mark with a time of 2:12.80 to win the 800-meter run at last week's Stan Lyons Open hosted by Butler Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind. She had set the school record earlier this month with a time of 2:13.01 at the Duke Invitational on April 5. A mechanical engineering major, Nowak owns a 3.96 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
