Katie Nowak (Avon, Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake H.S.) has been named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday, after finishing second in the 1,500 meters at last week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The award marked the sixth time Nowak was named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week during the 2007-08 school year.
Nowak was the Braves top finisher at the Valley Championship, placing second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:31.84. She crossed the line just over a half-second behind Valley champion Mica Land of Wichita State who won the race with a time of 4:31.27. A mechanical engineering major, Nowak owns a 3.96 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
