Hanna M?gge To Play For U-20 German National Team

PEORIA, Ill. ? Incoming freshman Hanna M?gge (Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins) will be playing with the under-20 German National Team this summer. The 5-8 guard is one 16 players on the roster which also includes Penn State sophomore Julia Trogele.

A German citizen, M?gge will participate in games in Berlin, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic prior to the European Under-20 Championship which will be held July 11-21 in Chieti, Italy.

M?gge and her family have resided in Hopkins, Minn., the last four years. A two-time all-conference selection, she averaged 9.2 points per game as a senior and helped the Royals to a 26-3 overall record. M?gge also averaged 9.2 points per game in 2006-07 in addition to 3.6 rebounds per contest and earned all-conference recognition. She was honorable mention all-conference as a sophomore, helping Hopkins to a 4A state championship. As a junior she claimed the state high jump championship in addition to finishing in the top in the triple jump (4th), long jump (5th) and the 4x100 relay (3rd). This spring she placed third in the triple jump at the state championship.

M?gge is the fifth foreign-born player in program history and is one of six incoming recruits next year. The Braves are expected to return eight of 13 letterwinners, including six of the top seven scorers from 2007-08. Joining M?gge in the incoming class are 6-3 center Leah Kassing (Mt. Sterling, Ill./Brown County), 6-2 center Latasha Hollingshed (Bellwood, Ill./St. Joseph's/Illinois Central), 6-0 forward MacKenzie Westcott (Williamsburg, Iowa/Williamsburg), and guards Michelle Lund (Sioux City, Iowa/Bishop Heelan) and Lauren Niemiera (Orland Park, Ill./Marist).
