Former Bradley softball players
Stephanie Ramsey (Washington, Ill./Washington) and
Jessie Musgrove (Catham, Ill./Chatham Glenwood) and senior pitcher
Ashley Birdsong (Otis, Ore./Taft) recently had a chance to face the United States Olympic Softball team on the squad's KFC Bound 4 Beijing Tour in preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games.
Ramsey and Musgrove faced Team USA as members of the Midwest All-Stars, which featured several former Missouri Valley Conference players, Friday in Springfield, Mo. Ramsey started in right field for the Midwest All-Stars, and collected one of two hits for the team off three-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Cat Osterman in her only plate appearance. Musgrove was retired in her only plate appearance as Osterman struck out 17 batters to power Team USA to a 15-0 win.
Birdsong pitched one-third of an inning on the USA Women's National Team's stop in Portland, Ore., on July 10. The Portland All-Stars were no hit by NCAA career wins and strikeout leader Monica Abbott in a 19-0 setback.
