PEORIA, Ill.
? After scoring three goals and adding an assist in Bradley's two-game sweep of the Memphis Diadora Tournament, junior forward Chris Cutshaw (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.) has been named to the Soccer America and College Soccer News National Teams of the Week. Additionally, Cutshaw was named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career.
Cutshaw joins former Bradley player Joe Ducci (Sept. 2-3, 2003) as the only Bradley player in program history to earn the weekly award from both Soccer America and College Soccer News in the same week. Cutshaw is also the first Bradley player to receive a national weekly honor since Adam Hage was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week on Sept. 11, 2005 and the first to be honored by Soccer America since Chris Dunsheath on Oct. 16, 2003. Cutshaw previously earned MVC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Aug. 28, 2006 and Oct. 2, 2006.
Cutshaw scored twice in the final five minutes of Friday's 4-0 win over Memphis, then scored the game-winning goal in Sunday's 2-1 win over UAB to clinch the tournament title.
The Braves jumped four spots to #17 in this week's NSCAA/addidas National Rankings and are currently #2 in the NSCAA/adidas Midwest Regional Rankings behind SMU. Additionally, the Braves checked in at #23 in this week's College Soccer News Top 30 poll after not making an appearance in the preseason poll.
This Friday, Bradley will host Western Illinois at 7 p.m. to open Shea Stadium's sixth season as the home of the Braves. Northern Illinois will visit Sunday at 1 p.m.
