PEORIA, Ill. --
Senior women's golfer
Bari Erais (Lethbridge, Alberta/Lethbridge Collegiate Institute) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Tuesday, after finishing second at the season-opening Payne Stewart Memorial in Springfield, Mo., last week.
Erais fired rounds of 75 and 71 in the 36-hole event to finish tied atop the individual leaderboard with McNeese State's Maggie Welch. Welsh claimed medalist honors over Erais, however, when she shot par on a playoff hole. Erais helped the Braves to a fourth-place finish in the season-opening event and was one of two Braves to finish in the top 10. Named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for her efforts, Erais' second-round 71 is tied for the 12th best round in program history and gives her seven career rounds of 72 or lower. She also pushed her school-career record for top 10 finishes to 17 in addition to becoming just the second player in program history with 60 or more career rounds in the 70's. An accounting major, Erais owns a 3.86 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Erais and the Braves return to action Sept. 29-30 at the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo.
