Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) turned in her second consecutive top 20 finish to open the season as she helped pace the Bradley women's golf team to a 12th place finish at the Johnie Imes invitational at the par-72 The Club at Old Hawthorne.
Amundrud was the Braves top finisher, tying for 14th in the 90-person field with a three-round total of 228. The only Bradley player to card all three rounds in the 70's, she turned in the best round of the day for the Braves with a 77 to go along with her 78 and 73 from Monday's action.
Senior Bari Erais (Lethbridge, Alberta/Lethbridge Collegiate Institute) shot an 80 during Tuesday's final round and finished in a tie for 43rd place at 238 (80-78-80). Sophomore Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Coaldale) turned in an 84 in the third round to finish at 250 (87-79-84) in a tie for 68th place.
Sophomore Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) closed out play with an 87 to slip into a tie for 71st at 252 (83-82-87), while freshman Keegan Ryan (Groveland, Ill./Morton) shot an 80 on the final day of play to move up eight spots into a tie for 76th at 254 (81-93-80).
Mississippi won the team title in a field which included nine teams ranked in the top 100 according to golfweek.com and defending junior college National Champion Redlands Community College. Mississippi finished with a three-round total of 900, edging out Arkansas-Little Rock and tournament-host Missouri which tied for second place at 902. Mississippi State was fourth overall at 911, while Kansas rounded out the top five at 913.
Florida International took sixth at 918 and Princeton was six shots back in seventh place at 924. Middle Tennessee State claimed eighth place at 927, while Texas State (931) and Iowa (935) completed the top 10, respectively. Missouri State finished 11 shots ahead of the Braves in 11th at 944, while the Braves took 12th at 955. UMKC was six shots behind BU in 13th at 961 and Missouri's second squad slipped to 14th at 967. Redlands placed 15th (968), with Southern Illinois (16th - 971), Memphis (17th - 999) and Drury (18th - 1010) rounding out the field.
Bradley returns to action Saturday at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.
